CARROLL COUNTY — Two businesses announced plans to bring more jobs and business opportunities to Carroll County.
The announcement came at a luncheon hosted by the Carroll County Economic Development Corporation on Tuesday.
Next Day Container Inc. moved to Delphi in 2014. After hiring three new people and adding 20,000 square feet to its facility in July, the company announced it will add another shift to its workforce starting in September.
Laura Walls, the executive director of the Carroll County Economic Development Corporation, said the community was pleasantly surprised by the announcement.
“They were here to announce the three new jobs and as it turned out, they are adding a second shift in just a couple of weeks, and there will be new jobs created with that as well,” said Walls.
Next Day Container plans to hire more people in 2017. The company does not know how many new jobs will be available.
Peters Industrial Development also announced that they have completed renovations at the former furniture manufacturing facility on Washington Street.
A new roof, LED lights and upgrades to mechanical and electrical were put in the 500,000-square-foot facility.
Walls said the renovations make the city and county more marketable.
“The Peters Industrial Development just gives us another property that we can go out and market, and there is a need for that type of space out there,” said Walls.
The facility will be leased out in sections or as a whole for warehousing for manufacturing purposes.
